Donation Program

The Kids of Santiago started as a grassroots effort in 2016 led by a group of dedicated volunteers who focused on collecting donations from family and friends in the U.S. and shipping to these donations to service families in need in the town of San Pablo.

A staple of the organization, the Donation Program is a critical part of the long-term success of this organization. The organization relies on the in-kind donations of used and new clothes, shoes, school supplies, and non-perishable food, to meet the most basic needs of children and their families in the area.

Transportation

Due to the lack of transportation in the region, many of the children who live in San Pablo are unable to attend and/or stay or school. The nearest public school in the area is nearly a 30-minute walk, which includes having to cross a major highway. To address this issue, The Kids of Santiago organization will be looking to partner with the schools and a local bus transportation company to get children to and from school.

Documentation

Due to the lack of proper documentation, several children who live in San Pablo are unable to attend school. Many of these children do not have a birth certificate which prevents them from getting registered in their local public school. The Kids of Santiago, will partner with local government offices and parents to complete the paperwork that’s required to get these kids to school. The organization will also partner with others in the area to establish an educational program for new parents.
